Mozilla’s Lockwise password manager for Firefox will shut down on Dec 13

Mozilla has announced that password manager applications for iOS and Android will be sunbathing on December 13, 2021. Mozilla started the project in 2018 under the name Lockbox, which was finally divided into extensions for Firefox browsers and independent applications for iOS and Android.

This application will no longer be updated or maintained posts December 13 and Mozilla said that its features will continue to live in the iOS version of Firefox application, with releases on other platforms after immediately.

At the end of the support document, Mozilla said, “Mozilla will end support for the Firefox Lockwise application on Android and iOS, effective December 13, 2021. You will no longer be able to install or reinstall Firefox Lockwise from the App Store or Google Play Store. IOS version 1.8. 1 and Android version 4.0.3 will be the last release for Firefox Lockwise. “

The Firefox application on iOS will automatically synchronize all passwords that are locked before shutdown and the company will share more detail, about how the iOS version of the application will stand as a wide password manager in December.

Until then, the saved password can only be used in Firefox applications on iOS. The release schedule for other platforms will be announced later.

Last year in August, Mozilla put 250 people on labor, blaming the situation in the Covid-19 pandemic that had “had a significant impact” of the company’s income.

Company CEO Mitchell Baker said, “I really hope there are other ways to set Mozilla for long-term success in building better internet but to go further, we must be set to be able to think about a different world.”
