Victim’s Version Inconsistent: What Order Acquitting Bishop Franco Mulakkal in Nun’s Rape Case Said
Acourt in Kerala on Friday absolved Roman Catholic Bishop Franco Mulakkal of the charges of assaulting a religious recluse in a community in the state, refering to different reasons, including the casualty’s conflicting variant of occurrences and absence of supportive proof to demonstrate the arraignment case.
Mulakkal, 57, was blamed for assaulting the religious recluse on numerous occasions during his visit to a community in Kottayam locale somewhere in the range of 2014 and 2016 when he was the Bishop of the Jalandhar Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church. Absolving the Bishop, Additional Sessions Judge G Gopakumar in the request said the casualty’s case that she was assaulted on 13 events under pressure can’t be taken dependence based on her lone declaration.
“There is no consistency in the assertion of the person in question… In perspective on the conflicting rendition of the person in question, this court is of the view that she can’t be sorted as a real observer. She can’t be classified as an entirely dependable observer also,” the request said.
The court likewise said that the complaint projected by her to her friend sisters was that the denounced was making retaliatory strides for not respecting his sexual longings, though her rendition under the steady gaze of the court was that she had to do sex with the blamed on 13 events.
The judgment further said that the indictment had neglected to give appropriate
clarification for the conflicting variant.
“Aside from the declaration of the person in question, there is no validating proof to demonstrate the arraignment case.
