Emerging axes, new equations: Pak-Russia dynamics in a changing world

A two-day visit to Moscow by Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan starting on Wednesday (February 23) came when President Vladimir Putin was an evil boy in the world for his actions to Ukraine. Imran will be the first foreign leader to visit Russia after Putin recognized two regions that separated themselves in Ukraine as the Republic of Independent, and Pakistan’s first prime minister to travel to the country since Landmark visited by Nawaz Sharif in 1999.

Imran visited Russia at the Kremlin invitation, and Pakistani officials said the visit was scheduled to be far before the current developments. In an interview with RT RT channels controlled by Russia on Tuesday, Imran said the visit would focus on Pakistan’s relationship with Russia.

“This [Ukrainian crisis] This does not get our concern. We have bilateral relations with Russia, and we really want to strengthen it,” Imran said, adding that Pakistan wanted trade relations with “all countries”.
