Former Amnesty India Chief Aakar Patel Stopped At Bengaluru Airport
Bengaluru: The former Head of Amnesty International India Aakar Patel today alleged that he was stopped from a plane to the United States at Bengaluru Airport.
Mr. Patel tweeted that he was placed on a list of controls out in connection with a case submitted against Amnesty India International by the Investigation Center Bureau (CBI).
“The CBI officer called to say that I was in the Circle of Enterprises because the case of the Modi government has submitted to Amnesty International India,” Patel said in Tweet shortly after he stopped leaving India.

However, CBI sources said that Patel was given permission to travel to the US by the Court letter in a case registered by Gujarat police, but LOC opened against him and later, he was stopped leaving India today in connection with other cases registered with the agency Amnesty International India and others because of alleged FCRA violations related to ₹ 36 foreign Crore Fundings.
The CBI has submitted a case against Amnesty International India and three partner organizations in November 2019, after the complaint submitted by the Ministry of Home for alleged violations of the provision of ACT, 2010 and the Criminal Code.
This case is registered with Amnesty International India Pvt Ltd (AIIPL), India for Amnesty International Trust (IAIF), Amnesty International India Foundation Trust (AIFT), Amnesty International South Asia Foundation (AISAF) and others.
