Al-Zawahiri’s death: US issues worldwide alert for citizens travelling abroad
The United States on Tuesday warned its citizens to maintain “high levels of vigilance” when traveling abroad after a counter-terrorism operation that eliminated the leader of Al Qaeda Ayman Al-Zawahiri. In commemoration throughout the world, the US Department of State expressed concern over the threat of sustainable terrorist attacks and “other acts of violence” against its citizens and their interests abroad.
The department stated that the attack could use “various kinds of tactics including suicide operations, murder, kidnapping, piracy, and bombing.”
“As terrorist attacks, political violence (including demonstrations), criminal activities, and other security incidents often occur without warning, US citizens are highly recommended to maintain high levels of vigilance and practice good situational awareness when traveling abroad,” the state Department commemoration said.
“We. Residents abroad are urged to monitor local news and maintain contact with the nearest US embassy or consulate,” he added.
On July 31, the US conducted a precision strike in Kabul that killed Ayman Al-Zawahiri, representative and successor Osama bin Laden as the leader of Al-Qaeda. One of the puppeteers of the 9/11 attack on the US in 2001, the Head of Al-Qaeda, according to the US State Department, continued to urge his followers to attack America.
The Taliban confirmed the murder of Zawahiri but condemned the drone strike in Kabul during the weekend. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said that strikes occurred at the residence, calling it a violation of “international principles.” But US officials claim that Al-Zawahiri is the only person killed in strikes and that no family members are injured.
US Foreign Minister Antony Blinken said that the Taliban had roughly violated the Doha agreement by hosting and protecting the head of Al-Qaeda.
“By being the host and protecting the Al Qa’ida leader in Kabul, the Taliban violently violated the Doha agreement and repeatedly guaranteed the world that they would not allow Afghanistan terrorists to be used by terrorists to threaten the security of other countries,” Blinken said in a statement .
