Stolen US Plane Lands On Field After Pilot Threatens To Hit Walmart Store
A pilot, around the stolen plane for hours above Tupelo, a city in the Mississippi NorthEast in the United States, threatened to “deliberately crash” into the Walmart shop had been detained after he landed the aircraft safely, Governor Tate Reeves told Saturday.
“The situation has been resolved” and no one was injured, “Governor Reeves announced on Twitter.
“The plane above the North MS descended. Thank God the situation has been completed and no one is injured. Thank you very much for the enforcement of local laws, states and federals who manage this situation with extreme professionalism,” Reeves said in A Minaping.
The aircraft, Beechcraft King Air 90, in the air for more than five hours, described by the police as a “dangerous situation.”
The police are in talks with the pilot but do not provide information about the person’s identity or motive.
Previously, the Tupelo Police Department asked residents to avoid the area until everything was clearly given.
“With the mobility of the aircraft of that type, the danger zone is far greater than Tupelo,” the police said in a statement.
All emergency services are given alert, he said.
A map from the Flightaware website shows what looks like an uncertain zigzag pattern centered around Tupelo, a city of around 40,000 known as the birthplace of “King of Rock and Roll” Elvis Presley.
The Daily Journal, a local newspaper, reports that aircraft pilots are employees of the Tupelo Regional Airport.
